Dr Baskar Subramani
Scientist and Researcher, Regenerative Medicine and Cellular Therapy
Scientist Regenerative Medicine Dr. Baskar obtained his Doctorate from Bharathiar University, India. Before fully dedicating himself to immunology and stem cell–based regenerative medicine, he built a strong foundation by working at a reputed research institution—the Indo-Japan Research Institute, a Japanese firm in India extensively involved in research using human adult cells from various tissue types, as well as clinical trials involving immune cells and stem cells.
With this core expertise, he began his career in Malaysia in 2008, making notable contributions to cancer research by incorporating innovative ideas and improvements into established Japanese technologies. With a combined 19 years of research and professional experience, Dr. Baskar has applied his innovative approaches to stem cell therapies for conditions with limited conventional treatment options. He has worked alongside specialists and a team of scientists to conduct stem cell applications primarily using bone marrow and umbilical cord–derived stem cells for conditions such as spinal cord injuries, liver cirrhosis, and diabetic wound ulcers.
He currently leads a research group collaborating with clinicians and scientists to develop a network of partners in Malaysia and internationally, focusing on studying the outcomes of immunotherapy for cancer and stem cell therapies for specific disorders. Dr. Baskar specializes in the production of cGMP-grade mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), natural killer (NK) cells, cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), and dendritic cell (DC) exosomes in large quantities within a short timeframe. His techniques are efficient, scalable, and capable of producing clinically viable cell populations.
He holds his first NK cell patent in Malaysia and has submitted three additional patents related to MSC and exosome processing. Additionally, he has completed a specialized diploma course in regenerative medicine from the University of Toronto. His primary goal is to transform innovative research into practical therapeutic solutions for life-threatening conditions, while strictly adhering to ethical principles and national regulatory guidelines.
